Travel tips for Switzerland

Switzerland made an immediate impression on my first visit. I was visiting a friend in Lausanne and saw iconic sights like the Aletsch Glacier and the Matterhorn for the first time. Since then, I've returned many times, hiking in the Saas Valley around Saas-Fee, walking the Tell Trail, and exploring regions like Baselland and Lucerne. With every visit, I continue to marvel at the mountain scenery: snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and landscapes that invite you to get active outdoors.

For me, Switzerland is primarily a destination for hikers and mountain enthusiasts. Traveling throughout the country is easy and pleasant, thanks in part to the excellent public transport system. The train takes you effortlessly between different regions. The price is higher than in many other European countries, but the impressive scenery more than makes up for it. Switzerland is a country that continually invites you to explore further.

Why Switzerland?

  • For impressive mountain landscapes with snow-capped peaks, glaciers and deep valleys
  • For hiking in the Alps, with routes for both short trips and multi-day hikes
  • For regions such as the Saas Valley, the Aletsch Arena and lesser-known areas such as Baselland
  • Because Switzerland is ideal for an active outdoor holiday
  • Thanks to the perfectly organised public transport, you can easily travel throughout the country
  • For iconic places such as the Aletsch Glacier and the Matterhorn area
  • To taste Swiss classics such as cheese fondue and regional products
