Cuba is a destination that feels different from many other countries. In 2009, I traveled around the island for over two and a half weeks in a rental car. We combined colonial cities with nature and thus got a good picture of the country.
What stands out most is the atmosphere. Old cars, dilapidated buildings, and colorful streets give Cuba a unique character. At the same time, the country feels as though it is in flux. Things have changed since my visit, and it is difficult to predict how Cuba will develop further. That is precisely what makes it a destination you really have to experience for yourself.
