The United States is the perfect country for road trips. Long roads through the middle of nowhere, endless landscapes, and impressive national parks. Because of its sheer size, no two states are alike, and every region feels like a new discovery.
My first trip to the US took me to Utah and the surrounding states. There, it was all about nature and national parks. Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and Capitol Reef formed an impressive backdrop for long hikes through red rock and expansive valleys. Later, I visited Yellowstone, Grand Teton, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and the Pacific Northwest around Portland and Seattle, including Olympic National Park.
What makes the United States quintessentially American for me are the long highways, roadside diners, and the sense of space. You drive for hours through empty landscapes, constantly finding yourself in a completely different environment. The US is diverse, vast, and made to be explored with a rental car. And precisely because the country is so large, you know you can always return to explore another state.
