Patagonia - Torres del Paine

Travel tips for Chili

Chile is a country I've visited twice now and one I definitely want to return to. My first trip took me to southern Patagonia, where I visited Torres del Paine, Parque Karukinka, and Lago General Carrera, among other places. Later, I drove a large section of the Carretera Austral, passing through lesser-known national parks and vast landscapes where you can sometimes hardly see anyone for hours.

What makes Chile so special for me is the sheer magnitude of its nature. The W-trek in Torres del Paine was a magnificent hiking adventure, but the hike to the remote Calluqueo Glacier was perhaps even more impressive. There, we stood virtually alone against an immense mass of ice. Chile feels desolate and rugged in some places, but that's precisely what makes the country so impressive. It's a destination for those seeking space, adventure, and pure nature.

Why Chile?

  • For the rugged nature of Patagonia and iconic parks such as Torres del Paine
  • To explore remote areas along the Carretera Austral
  • For impressive glaciers such as Glaciar Calluqueo and Ventisquero Colgante
  • Because Chile offers enormous variety in landscapes, from fjords to mountain ranges
  • For multi-day hikes such as the W-trek
  • Because the country is ideal for an adventurous road trip
  • For vast areas where you are sometimes completely alone
  • And because Chile is a destination where nature and adventure take center stage
