I'm Danny van der Meijden, founder of Reizen & Reistips. I love to travel off the beaten track and write personal travel stories about cities, nature reserves, hiking trails, and road trips with character. No standard lists, but experiences as I've lived them myself, always with my own photography and practical information.
For me, traveling is more than just checking off familiar sights. I find it interesting to understand why a place is the way it is, whether it's because of the landscape, history, or people. That's why I often seek out lesser-known destinations, or places within popular regions where mass tourism is scarce.
I'm originally a web designer and front-end developer with a focus on WordPress. This technical background allows me to pay close attention to the structure, usability, and sustainability of the website.
Why Travel & Travel Tips?
Reizen & Reistips was born from the need for travel stories that go beyond the well-known highlights. During my own travels, I noticed that many blogs simply rehashed the same places and tips, often without real depth or personal experience.
With Travel & Travel Tips, I want to show that it's often the lesser-known destinations, nature reserves, and routes that stick with you the most. My articles are meant to inspire and help you plan a trip, without exaggerated stories or polished marketing.
In 2024, Reizen & Reistips in Croatia was awarded the Golden Pen Media Award, a wonderful recognition for the quality of the travel work and the stories.
